Types of Retainers

The follow-through state is called retention. This is when you wear a retainer. There are many different types available for you. All of these are custom-made just for you and your mouth so that you will receive optimal results.

 

Protect your new investment.  Wear and take care of the retainers custom fit to your new smile.  We recommend 3 weeks of full time wear then drop back to night time wear indefinitely to help hold teeth.

  • Fixed Retainers are bonded behind teeth
  • Clear Retainers
  • Bite Plate Retainers

You may be wondering why you need a retainer. Your teeth are already straight! Without a retainer, your teeth will actually start to move back to where they were at the beginning. Retainer wear is for life.

 

 

 

 

3-D Scans and Printing are available at Quad City Orthodontics!

 

  • Scans can be saved in the cloud to reprint a digital model to replace a lost retainer

  • Option available to purchase an additional set of retainers when the braces are removed

  • Minor movements available using QCO Aligners

 

 

Retainer Care

  • In order to keep your retainer healthy and germ-free you need to make sure that your retainer is properly cleaned. You can do this by brushing it with a regular toothbrush.
